Marj Frederick

I teach math and physical sciences at Cornerstone Christian Academy in Westminster, CO. I have been coaching FTC for 7 years as an after school club open to the school, home-schoolers and any local schools that do not have an FTC program. Last year as a school we decided to create a robotics’ elective that meets 5 days a week.  This class is designed to expose students to the business side of robotics (marketing, designing team logo, fundraising, community outreach), software creation and the engineering process using the usfirst.org robotics program.

This year I decided to branch out and create a team where I actually live in Brighton.

I have an MSME from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA. I worked at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, IA as a student intern, then went to work for FMC as a mechanical engineer, where I learned how to do finite element analysis. After moving to Colorado I started to write software for a small CAD company.
I have always loved to fix mechanical things. One of my favorite stores to shop at is a hardware store. I have always been intrigued with gadgets and robots. In addition, I enjoy reading, knitting, jewelry making and walking my dogs.

My children inspire me daily.  My eldest son Colton helped inspire me to pursue FTC Robotics Club at his school. Colton has always been excited about building robots and discussing new inventions.  As long as I can remember Colton talking, he has talked about inventing and building robots.  By age five, he started sharing that he would like to pursue a degree in robotics from M.I.T.  I knew we had to start saving for his college early!!

I am a Mom of four, and I am a Speech Language Pathologist who runs my own pediatric therapy company.  My passion has always been to help children pursue and achieve their goals.  When I heard about this Robotics club as a possibility through a colleague I was thrilled. I knew that starting up this robotics club would be an amazing opportunity for our children and our community and I feel blessed to be part of it.
Even though I have no experience with building a robot and have no clue how to program one, I believe I can assist our team in the areas of public relations, fundraising, and communication skills.  Mostly, I am looking forward to all of the information that these intelligent young people will teach me as they learn to work as a team.  Go team CODE CRUSHERS!

I am in 7th grade at Foundations Academy. I want to be in robotics because this seems like an interesting project to learn from and have fun with. This would be a great way to learn about teamwork, physics, mechanic ability and code.

What I like to do….

I like to do many things with my spare time.  Every once in awhile, I go to my dad’s small business, a small engine specialist, and help him with his innumerable tasks.  I love to play with legos and design small toys.

My name is Austin Ford.  I was born in Longmont, CO in 2001 and have lived here my entire life. I currently attend Foundations Academy where I am in 8th grade.

My hobbies include skateboarding, fishing, camping, hiking and I am a complete technology consumer.  Over the summer, I built my first monster gaming computer and use it to play my favorite games.  I also spend a lot of time creating mods for many of the games that I play.

I joined robotics club because this year’s First Tech Challenge will be using Java as its programming platform to control the robot and the driver station utilizing the Android operating system.  Since I have been around computers my entire life and already know quite a bit about them, I am excited to learn about Java programming and how it will interface with our robot and how it is used to create applications on mobile phones.

My future plans include pursuing the field of electrical engineering.  I hope one day to attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

I am in 7th grade at Foundations Academy.

I love to ride my bike. I love video games like Minecraft and Dying light .

The reason I want  to be in robotics is because when I was little  I loved making contraptions. I loved making marble courses. I love thinking about the future with robots. I made rope robots.   I saw the flyer about FTC robotics after school and I wanted to join so much. That’s why I’m here.

I am in 7th grade at Foundations Academy.   I like to   build legos, Play video games and Swim. I would like to be in robotics because i am interested in learning more about the subject and to  see if i am interested in  having a career in robotics. I may also become an entrepreneur, and  it would be helpful to at least know the basics of robotics to help me in this career.

I am in 7th grade at Foundations Academy. i joined robotics because I have been interested in robotics since I  was  five.  I asked my mom if I could join a robotics club. She talked to a friend  and said that there is a club that makes robots.  We eventually started a club at Foundations Academy. I am learning programming, along with four other people. I hope to be a programmer in robotics someday.

I enjoy playing with my dogs.  I have three siblings and a turtle.  I have always thought about inventions that could help people. I hope to go to M.I.T. someday.  I am interested in Reflexology, and Neurology, and other ways of healing.

I am in 7th grade at Foundations academy. On my freetime i enjoy to go to the park with friends, play video games, and talk to my friends sometimes for hours at a time. I want to be in robotics because ever since i was little i was interested in programming, i was interested in robots, and i have always liked to

take apart phones or whatever i could get my hands on and put them back together. when i saw the page for robotics i thought this might be fun and it might be a good learning experience and i might be able to make some new friends threw it so i decided to join.
